Dark Nougat

Nestled in the landscape of Trnovo, North Macedonia, Dark Nougat reimagines an existing mountain villa through the addition of a contemporary open terrace and a carefully considered architectural extension. Rather than replicating the traditional language of the original house, the new intervention establishes a subtle dialogue between old and new.

Defined by clean geometries, dark façade panels, and natural timber cladding, the extension introduces a modern architectural expression while preserving the warmth and character associated with mountain retreats. The restrained material palette creates a respectful contrast, allowing the original structure to remain legible while giving the villa a renewed identity.

The new terrace expands the home's living space into the surrounding landscape, strengthening the connection between architecture and nature. Designed as a place to gather, unwind, and experience the changing seasons, it becomes the project's defining element—bringing contemporary comfort to a familiar setting without losing its sense of place.
